This post is all about what to add on top of your vegetarian/vegan ramen to make it even better! Even if you didn’t think ramen would get any tastier.
These additional extras to make the best ramen will be sure to get you doing a food happy dance!
Plus all of these ramen extras will probably be easily available in your local supermarket.

Here are my TOP 6 Vegan Ramen Topping ideas:
1. Vegetable Gyoza
Gyoza is perfect on top of your vegan ramen or to serve as a side or starter. Vegetable gyoza are delicious when fried or steamed – read about 5 different ways to cook frozen gyoza.
My favourite vegan gyoza is the Itsu vegetable fusion gyoza (pictured). Or for a more affordable option try your local Asian supermarket, as they often have accidentally vegan gyoza in the freezer section.
2. Vegetable Tempura
You can make your own vegetable tempura, but I recommend these Marks and Spencer Crispy Tempura Vegetable Fritters. They are on the pricey side at £2.50 for 4, but worth it as they are delicious.
Add them on top of your ramen or serve as a side or starter dish with a dip.
3. Crispy Fried Tofu

While you make your ramen broth, prep and fry small cubes of firm tofu in a frying pan with a decent amount of vegetable oil. Add to the top of the broth just before serving.
4. Vegan Chicken Pieces
As with the tofu, fry your vegan chicken pieces separately and then add to the top of your dish just before serving.
My favourite vegan ‘chicken’ brands are This Isn’t Chicken, Iceland No Chick Strips and Naked Glory.
5. Nori
For a more traditional Japanese topping, add a sheet of nori on the side.

6. Mushrooms
I was feeling lazy in the picture above and chucked in these button mushrooms to finish off my ramen in the snow at the beginning of the year.
But you could really level up your ramen by adding some shiitake mushrooms into your broth base for extra flavour.
