If you want to meet more like-minded people, expand your friendship circle or just have a new pal to try out the latest vegan menu in town, this is the post for you! Here are 4 ways you should meet new people and make vegan friends!
4 Ways To Make Vegan Friends:
1. CONNECT ONLINE
Use social media to make real-life or online friendships.
Try creating an Instagram food page, joining local vegan Facebook groups or even try out Bumble using the friend-finding feature to connect with people, chat and hopefully meet up!
Obviously, it goes without saying that if you are meeting anyone from online in person that you should meet in a public place and tell a friend or family member who you are meeting and where.
As long as you are keeping yourself safe this can be a great way to meet people. I have met many great friends through having my food blog and meeting up with local people with similar interests!
Ideas of what to do when you meet up:
- Try out some new dishes in a local restaurant.
- Go for a picnic.
- Find a local vegan food event to attend together.
- Meet in a cafe with vegan cake options.
2. MEET UP APP
Browse local events by category and interests.
Download Meet Up app on your phone to find events in your local area (not just vegan or food events).
There are so many activities on the app from walking, language conversation meet-ups, cooking, yoga and mediation etc! You can meet people with similar interests in your local area.
Best thing is that the app is FREE to browse for attendees (some event hosts may ask for a small fee depending on the activity).
Post lockdown, I attended monthly drawing classes that I found out about through the app.
3. HAVE A DINNER PARTY
Connect with mutual friends through your joint love of good food!
Expanding your friendship group through existing friends is probably one of the easiest ways to meet people.
Host a dinner party with a friend at home, and each bring along someone the other person hasn’t met, so you can meet each other’s pals!
I LOVE dinner parties because bonding over good food is always a winner and it can be an inexpensive way to meet people.
4. EVENTS AND MARKETS
Keep an eye on what local events are happening in your county and mark them in your calendar.
This doesn’t have to be invite-only events. Vegfest, @vegannightsldn, food markets or uni society events can be a great place to start.
Hopefully, this post has inspired you to connect with new people and find some vegan friends in your local area!
