This post will give you an extensive list of all the best recommendations for vegan ice cream in the UK, where to find them; from pricey luxury, lower-calorie recipes, cheap and cheerful and allergen suitable!
Perfect to treat yourself in the hot weather and perfect for a vegan dessert or picnic.
Please check the allergen and ingredients list before purchasing. This list is complete to the best of my knowledge. Factories may produce products in factories that handle allergens so please refer to the product packaging for full info.
14 Vegan Ice Creams in the UK:
1. Oatly
Flavours: Chocolate Fudge*, Salted Caramel*, Strawberry*, Vanilla, Hazelnut Swirl and Chocolate.
Price: £4.50 (500ml).
Where to find: Tesco (Flavours marked with * are available).
Allergens: Not suitable for gluten allergy sufferers. Some flavours are also not suitable for people with nut allergies.
The creamiest and richest vegan ice cream out there, with chunks of fudge and swirls of sauce. My personal top choice for vegan ice cream would be the chocolate or salted caramel flavour.
2. Ben & Jerry’s
Flavours: Cookies on Cookie Dough (NEW), Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Coconuttery Caramel’d, and Peanut Butter & Cookies.
Price: £4.50 (465ml).
Where to find: Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Asda (Flavours available vary depending on the store). OR via instant delivery with Papa Johns.
Allergens: Not suitable for nut, soy or gluten and wheat allergy sufferers.
A super-rich and luxury tasting ice cream. Contains chunks and swirls of flavour. After a poll on my Instagram it seems these are your guys overall favourites.
3. Magnum

Flavours: Classic, and Almond.
Price: £3.89 (3 x 90ml).
Where to find: Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Asda (Flavours available vary depending on the store).
Allergens: Almond variety not suitable for nut allergy sufferers. The plain one is free of major allergens, to best of my knowledge.
Creamy soft ice cream filling coated with a layer of melt in the mouth chocolate (plus almonds in non-classic flavour). Can be very sweet but best vegan ice cream on a stick on the market, in my opinion.
4. Booja Booja
Flavours: Honeycomb Caramel, Mint Chocolate Truffle, Raspberry Ripple, Caramel Pecan Praline, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Hazelnut Chocolate Truffle, Chocolate and Vanilla
Price: from £5.49 (500ml).
Where to find: Holland and Barrett, Waitrose, Various Independent Health Food shops.
Allergens: Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers.
Creamy and delicious with only a few simple ingredients (between 4-7 ingredients per flavour!). Made with cashewnuts and sweetened with agave or coconut syrup.
5. Swedish Glace
Flavours: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Raspberry, and *Coconut & Blueberry, *Toffee Cinnamon & Hazelnut.
Price: Tubs – £2.50 (750ml), *£3.50 (465ml).
Where to find: Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Asda (Flavours available vary depending on the store).
Allergens: Not suitable for soybean allergy sufferers.
Also available in cones and sticks: vanilla and strawberry flavour ice cream coated in a layer of chocolate.
Most affordable ice cream without compromising on texture and taste. Simple flavours and all of a smooth consistency. The pioneers in bringing dairy-free ice cream to supermarkets. Variety of products from cheap and cheerful tubs to luxury flavour combos to on the go cones and sticks.
6. Halo Top
Flavours: Peanut Butter Cup and Sea Salt Caramel.
Price: £3.89 (3 x 90ml).
Where to find: Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, M&S and Asda (Flavours available vary depending on the store).
Allergens: Almond variety not suitable for nut allergy sufferers. The plain one is free of major allergens, to best of my knowledge.
Known for their lower calorie recipe. A tub of Halo top is 320 calories per tub.
7. Jude’s

Flavours: Salted Caramel, Vanilla, Chocolate Brownie, lower-calorie version Chocolate (look out for the green lids).

Allergens: Regular varieties not suitable for soy allergy sufferers. Some flavours also contain wheat. Lower calorie version looks suitable for major allergens.
My followers on my Instagram gave mixed reviews but on the whole positive. Lots of people loved the salted caramel flavour.
8. Alpro
Flavours: Vanilla, Hazelnut Chocolate, Almond Salted Caramel, Chocolate, Passionate Mango, Coconut, and Macchiato.
Price: £3.75-4.00 (450-500ml).
Where to find: Ocado, Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Asda (Flavours available vary depending on the store).
Allergens: Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers (depending on flavour). Looks suitable for other major allergens.
Offers a lower calorie range and a wide variety of flavours. My followers on my Instagram gave mixed reviews with some people saying it was a little on the watery/icy side rather than being creamy. One person said it is a ‘light texture, almost a mix between a gelato and a sorbet’. Seems a lot of people like the 360 lower calorie range too.
9. Coconuts Organic
Flavours: Choc Orange Swirl, Double Caramel, Creamy Coconut, Chocolate, Caramel, Rum n’ Raisin, and Mint Choc.
Price: £4.50 (460ml).
Where to find: Tesco, M&S, Ocado and coconutsorganic.com.
Allergens: Looks suitable for major allergens.
Heard nothing but good reviews for these. Lots of flavours to choose from too!
10. Cornetto
Flavours: Classic.
Price: £3.00 (4 x 90ml).
Where to find: Tesco, Ocado, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Asda.
Allergens: Not suitable for nut or soy allergy sufferers.
Wafer with a chocolatey inside filled with vanilla ice cream and hazelnut pieces. A great alternative to ice cream in a tub. The ice cream can be a little bland and more of a ‘Mr whippy’ vibe.
11. Roar
Flavours: Hemp Seed Chocolate Brownie, Hazelnut Chocolate Cookie, Coconut Mango Passionfruit.
Price: £5.00 (500ml) – As a new brand it is often on offer for £3.00 (*As on August 2020).
Where to find: Tesco (Flavours available vary depending on the store).
Allergens: Not suitable for wheat, oat and gluten allergy sufferers.
The name comes from their interest in helping wild cats. Great flavours and I think it is worth the price when on offer.
12. Yorica!
Flavours: Double Chocolate Cookie, Salted caramel.
Price: £4.99 (500ml).
Where to find: Waitrose.
Allergens: Free from all 14 major allergens.
Tub form of the popular chain in London. One of my followers on my Instagram said it was not as good as the shop ice cream, and had a bit of a ‘fake’ flavour taste.
