3 Super Luxury Vegan Hot Chocolate Ideas:
1. CLASSIC LUXURY
For a simple but delicious vegan hot chocolate:
Simply, add a couple of tablespoons of vegan hot chocolate powder (I used @cadburyuk) to a saucepan with a dash of plant-based milk on medium heat. Stir together to form a choccy paste (this prevents lumps of choc powder forming in your drink). Then add in enough milk to fill your mug and stir. Heat to the desired temperature, and pour into your mug.
Toppings:
Whipped Cream
The best vegan whipped cream is this Food Heaven (£2.09). You can get this in on The Vegan Kind Supermarket or in the fridge free from section from some major supermarkets and health food shops.
Marshmallows
Try the NEW Marks and Spencer Plant Kitchen marshmallows. RRP £1.60. I have tried these myself and reviewed them on my Instagram stories and I can confirm that they are the best vegan marshmallows I have ever tried. Super flavoursome (vanilla flavour) and great texture!
Check out the blog post ‘NEW VEGAN PRODUCT RELEASES’ ft the M&S marshmallows here!
You can also get mini marshmallows on The Vegan Kind Supermarket or in Holland and Barrett – little expensive at £2.49 a pack.
Chocolate Buttons
I also added Tesco vegan chocolate buttons too (only 40p a pack!).
2. CINNAMON BISCOFF
To add a biscoff twist to your hot chocolate:
Make your hot chocolate as in number 1, plus add a dash of cinnamon. This combo works perfectly to bring out the cinnamon flavour from the Biscoff biscuits.
Toppings:
Whipped Cream
Shop at The Vegan Kind Supermarket or in the fridge free from section of major supermarkets and some health food shops.
Biscoff Sauce
Drizzle Biscoff topping sauce or melted Biscoff spread (microwave for 15-20 sections to achieve a runny consistency).
Crumbled Biscoff AND a Whole Biscoff
Crumble up a Biscoff biscuit onto the whipped cream and just before serving add in another whole biscuit.
Cinnamon Sticks
If you are feeling fancy, you could also add a cinnamon stick too!
3. THICK HOT CHOCOLATE HEAVEN
Melt 8 squares of Bournville dark chocolate (or similar) in a saucepan with 2 tablespoons of plant-based milk on medium heat. Mix together.
Pour in plant-based milk into the mug of your choice to measure to about 3/4 of the mug (I would suggest a smallish mug for this one, to get the hot choc nice and thick). Add the milk to the pan and mix slowly. Add buttons and choc drizzle if you wish and pour in the hot chocolate from your pan.
Extras and Toppings:
Choccy Button Surprise
Add a few choccy buttons to your mug (to leave a delicious melted choc surprise at the end).
Drizzle of Choc
Add melted chocolate or a chocolate sauce around the edge of the mug and allow it to drip a little down the mug.
Chocolate Lolly
Serve with a dairy-free lolly to dip in and when it melts, you are ready to enter chocolate heaven!
As much as I loved this hot chocolate heaven… I wouldn’t suggest making 3 to photograph in one go as this was very challenging! As by the time I finished decorating they had started melting. At least my little neighbour enjoyed helping me drink these after the photoshoot.
