Here is a list of my top 7 Wagamama HACKS to help you make the most of the restaurant experience. Number 4 is my personal favourite.
Please consult the Wagamama website for more information on opening safely and to check if your local branch is open.
I use all of these Wagamama hacks every time I eat out. Hack 4 is my favourite because the Katsu Curry is my go to dish!
7 Wagamama Hacks:
1. There’s a shelf below the table for your coats, bags, scarfs etc
I can’t believe it’s taken me years of going to Wagamama to find this out!?
2. FREE green tea
because it’s free and very traditional for Japanese dining.
3. Swap the aubergine and butternut for just sweet potato
If you order the Yasai Katsu Curry (pictured) you can swap the aubergine and butternut coins for just sweet potato if the former aren’t to your taste.
My sis does this as the sweet potato is her fav, but it’s also good to know as I know many people avoid this dish because they don’t like aubergine!
4. Order EXTRA katsu sauce for FREE!
This is by far my fav hack! The best bit about the katsu for me is the sauce. So I’m always sad when I eat it up and then have just plain rice at the end of my meal. But luckily you can get the sauce for free in the restaurant.
However… you do have to pay (£1, I believe) when you order the extra sauce over take away.
5. Double up on tofu for less than £1
You can order extra tofu for only 75p! And they pretty much double the amount of tofu in your dish.
If you’re hungry or just LOVE tofu, like me, this is definitely a hack to use. I love doing this when I order the pad Thai.
6. Order 2 tap waters to start
Order double water when you order your drinks at the start of your visit. If you’re like me you might drink a lot of water when you go out to eat. So it’s easier to just order 2 when you’re seated, rather than awkwardly trying to get someone’s attention to ask for more. But obviously this is only really a hack if you usually order another tap water halfway through your meal anyways.
7. Switch up your rice and noodles
You can swap white to brown rice and visa versa. Or swap for different noodles, depending on the dish! You can also swap noodles for rice and Visa versa.
